Many films at Berlinale this year represent Russia, on top of them Dovlatov, whose challenging with eighteen other films for the Golden and Silver Bear awards, which will be bestowed on 24th of February 2018.

Der Film Jibril ist ein Drama von Henrika Kull. Auf einer Hochzeit haben sich Maryam und Jibril kennengelernt. Jahre später treffen sich die beiden im Gefängnis zufällig wieder, als Maryam ein Paket abgeben soll. Der Empfänger ist Jibril, der dort eine mehrjährige Strafe verbüßt. Mit Feuereifer stürzt sich Maryam in die vorerst weitgehend platonische Romanze, die auf beiden Seiten einerseits Sehnsüchte stillt, andererseits aber auch Verlangen weckt.
