Endless

The iranian film Hojoom begins with some boys in a sports club; they have a friend called Saman. Saman has a twin sister and they are both vampires. But no one knews until the middle of the movie, after killing Saman they realize he has a sister. All friends have to donate two bottles of their own blood to Saman and his sister.

For me the sports club stands for Iran and the vampires represent Iran’s government and their eternal need for blood.

Hojoom is a good film but it’s not for everybody, or better said not for the one who wants to watch an entertainment movie because it confuses you. I asked some people after the screening but most of them couldn’t make a connection to the film.

I guess when Iranian people go to the cinema they don’t want to see anything about war or politics because they are tired of it. They don’t want to watch what they are dealing with in their normal life.

I like this film.
