The Bookshop (section Competition) – Directed and written by the Spanish director Isabel Coixet, based on the novel by Penelope Fitzgerald.
Honestly, I didn’t like it. A boring movie that might disappointed you. It simply doesn’t have anything that makes it worth watching, just some plain characters and a tedious plot. Plus some certainly not funny at all jokes.
I chose this film because of Bil Nighy and Emily Mortimer but they were not as good as I expected. If you are into books and reading, you’ll find some moments interesting because of suggestion fictions such as Nabokov’s Lolita and Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451.
The only good thing about this movie were Honor Kneafsey as Christine. She is good young actress.
4.0/10 is my rate for this movie.
